The Cake That Wasn't

I had a major cake fail the other day. I was so excited to make the cake for a work lunch the next day. Everything went well until I inverted my pan onto the cooling rack and lifted up only to see part of my cake contents in a puddle. Whoops. I had even poked four different spots to see if it was done and all the toothpicks came out clean. I'm not sure what went wrong, but I'm taking it as a personal challenge to make this cake perfectly.

  1. looks like a chocolate chip cake?
sometimes the temperatures in recipes aren't correct. with cake i've found it's better to cook it long and slow than quick and high heat. that way the innards are done at the same time as the outside. (i hope you saved the crumbs and ate them anyway....) a really delicious dessert my mom used to make sometimes was a ball of ice cream rolled in cake crumbs. super simple and silly but so good! =)
